This body of work is a sentiment to trans* resilience, and personal healing. Unlocking Hope spans a decade of self-portraiture, personal video archive, diary entries, musings, and original poetry and lyrics. I have used these expressive processes to both explore and express my relationship to my corporeal, emotionality, and innate sense of self, as a queer, non-binary trans* individual throughout my coming of age.
Using these contemporary modalities and creative mediums, I welcome the viewer to intimately, emotionally, psychologically, and physically connect with my intimate journey. “Unlocking Hope,” forges a path to compassion, from myself, to the onlooker; deeply revealing, and uncovering the ways in which I have processed, and re-defined my life on the path to healing, with the willingness to see, and accept myself as I am.
